2 killed, 3 injured as car hits tree in Pratapgarh
Prayagraj: Two teenage girls were killed and three others suffered injuries after a speeding car rammed into a tree near Hulasgarh village of Pratapgarh on Friday, police said.
The incident took place when a group of seven people were travelling to Mangarh temple in Kunda from Bhupiamau. They said the driver — Sheru of Dharupur — lost control of the vehicle and rammed into a tree.
Police said the driver managed to escape after the accident.
A senior police officer said the deceased — Richa Gautam, 17, and Annu Gautam, 18 — were residents of Rajgarh Bhupiamau. Their bodies were sent for postmortem.
The officer added that the injured — Mahak, 18, Anita, 18, and Shakti, 20, of Bhupiamau — were referred to SRN Hospital in Prayagraj for treatment.
Another occupant of the car — Sonali, 11, of Rajgarh — remained unhurt.
