WR dispatches first spice-loaded train from Gujarat to Assam
Ahmedabad: The Western Railway's Ahmedabad Division has dispatched its first spice-loaded train from Mehsana in Gujarat to Assam.The first rake, carrying 4,200 quintals of cumin, was flagged off on Wednesday, from Mehsana station to Azara station in Assam under the Rangiya Division of Northeast Frontier Railway. Officials said that the spices were transported in an organised manner by rail for the first time on this route. The railway officials said that the consignment is expected to generate nearly Rs 25 lakh in revenue. The initiative will boost Gujarat's spice industry by providing direct access to markets in the Northeast.Ahmedabad Division, under divisional railway manager Ved Prakash, has been expanding freight operations through business-focused logistics initiatives. In another recent achievement, the division moved edible oil from Bhimasar station in Gandhidham to Bari Brahmana and Anantnag in Jammu & Kashmir. The shipment included 11 wagons for Bari Brahmana and nine for Anantnag, earning more than Rs 17 lakh in revenue.
