Police constable under scanner after assault video goes viral

Ahmedabad: A police constable posted in Gandhinagar is likely to face disciplinary action after a purported video showing him assaulting a staff member at a community lodging facility in Khanpur area of Ahmedabad city surfaced on social media.The incident reportedly took place after the staffer declined to provide a room, citing unavailability. According to initial information, the constable allegedly entered the booking office and began checking the register himself, leading to an argument.During the altercation, the constable was seen abusing the staffer, grabbing his hair, slapping him repeatedly, and banging his head against a wall. The assault, captured on camera, quickly went viral, triggering widespread criticism online.Shahpur police inspector P B Khambhla confirmed that they have received an application in the case and a preliminary inquiry was underway. "We have received a complaint, but an FIR is yet to be registered," he said.Police officials added that further action will be taken based on the findings of the inquiry.
