Ahmedabad: The city on Monday recorded a maximum temperature of 43°C, the highest in the state. This marked a rise of 0.8 degree from 42.2°C logged on Sunday. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD) bulletin, the maximum temperature stood 1.1 degrees above normal.
At 28.4°C, the minimum temperature in the city was 0.5 degree above normal. Accoriding to the IMD forecast, the maximum temperature in the city is expected to hover around 43°C on Tuesday.
The IMD bulletin also pointed to the possibility of a fresh Western Disturbance over northwest India from May 28.
The forecast for maximum temperatures in Gujarat suggested no significant change over the next four days, after which a gradual drop of 2-3 degrees is likely across the region. The maximum temperature is expected to remain above 40°C over the next seven days, according to the outlook. The forecast also highlighted chances of hot and humid conditions over coastal parts of Saurashtra and Kutch during the next three days.
Other cities and towns reporting high temperatures included 42.5°C in
Gandhinagar and Rajkot each, 42.3°C in Surendranagar, 41.7°C in Bhavnagar, and 41.1°C in VV Nagar, among others.
