20,893 students appeared for Diploma to Degree Common Entrance Test (DDCET) in Gujarat
Ahmedabad: The Diploma to Degree Common Entrance Test (DDCET) for admissions to degree engineering courses was conducted in the state on Tuesday. A total of 20,893 students appeared for the exam, while 936 candidates remained absent. Ahmedabad district recorded the highest participation with 4,633 students, whereas Botad district had the lowest turnout with only 11 candidates.The exam was held for diploma holders seeking direct admission into the third semester of degree engineering programmes after Class 10. Students from 21 universities, including Gujarat Technological University (GTU), participated in the test. The exam was conducted offline at 56 centres between 11am and 1.30pm.Registration for the exam was carried out from Feb 9 to March 24. A total of 21,829 students registered for engineering and 338 for pharmacy. Although the exam was initially scheduled for April 26, it was postponed to May 5 due to local body elections. The pharmacy entrance test is now scheduled for May 9.The engineering paper consisted of two sections: 50 questions on basic science and engineering, and 50 questions on aptitude in the first session, followed by 100 mathematics questions in the second session. Each correct answer carries two marks, while incorrect or multiple attempts attract a negative marking of 0.5 marks.The answer key will be released later in the evening. Students can raise objections online until May 9 by paying a fee of Rs 500 per question, refundable if the claim is valid. Results are expected by the end of the month, after which admissions will be conducted for 36,212 available engineering seats.
