Firozabad man gets life term for killing bro over Rs 500 for alcohol
Agra: A local court in Firozabad has sentenced a 35-year-old man to life imprisonment for murdering his younger brother by slitting his throat after the latter refused to give him Rs 500 for alcohol.
Additional District Judge-II Navneet Giri convicted Ramsipahi Kumar, a resident of Nakatpura Gudau village under Linepar police station limits, for the July 25, 2023, murder of his 25-year-old brother, Krishna Kumar.
The court also imposed a fine of Rs 1 lakh on the convict and directed that he would undergo an additional one year of imprisonment in case of non-payment.
ADGC Awadesh Sharma said, “Ramsipahi entered the house through the rooftop in the early hours and attacked Krishna with a sharp-edged weapon while he was asleep alone at home after returning from work. Krishna died on the spot. His wife was six months pregnant at the time of the incident.”
Police had registered a case under IPC section 302 (murder) on a complaint filed by the victim’s younger brother, Deepak. During investigation and trial, police found that the murder stemmed from frequent disputes linked to Ramsipahi’s alcohol addiction.
Investigators said the unmarried accused often demanded money from Krishna to buy liquor. Shortly before the murder, an argument broke out between the brothers during which Krishna allegedly pushed Ramsipahi out of the house in front of others and refused to give him money.
Police said Ramsipahi was unable to bear the “public insult” and murdered his brother in revenge. He was later arrested, and a chargesheet was filed in the case.
