19yo college student dies by suicide in Hathras

Agra: A 19-year-old BSc student allegedly died by suicide under suspicious circumstances at her home in the Sikandra Rao area of Hathras district on Tuesday night.Aarti is suspected to have taken the extreme step while she was alone at home, as her family had travelled to Delhi to attend a wedding.As per preliminary police information, she was in contact with a distant relative from the Patiyali area in Kasganj district. Officials said the two had been in regular touch over the phone for a considerable period and suspect that a dispute between them shortly before the incident may have led to the step. However, the exact cause is yet to be established.The matter came to light after the youth informed Aarti’s cousin over the phone. Family members rushed back and found her hanging, following which the police were alerted. The carcass was sent for post-mortem.Sikandra Rao DSP Jayendra Asthana said, “An investigation is underway, and all angles, including the alleged relationship dispute, are being examined.”
