Afghanistan crisis live updates: Biden promises further strikes against ISIS-K
The United States launched a drone strike against an Islamic State attack planner in eastern Afghanistan on Friday, the military said, a day after a suicide bombing at Kabul airport killed 13 US troops and scores of Afghan civilians. ISIS bombings near Kabul's international airport on Thursday killed 170 people, including many Afghans and American troops. It was the deadliest day for US forces in Afghanistan since August 2011. A day after ISIS claimed responsibility for the twin Kabul blasts that killed over 60 people, once again questions are being raised about the Taliban's complicity in the actions of the terrorist group. An ISIS suicide bomber was behind the explosion near Kabul airport that killed nearly 13 people and injured several including three US troops. According to UnHerd magazine, the suicide bombings at the Kabul airport are almost certainly the work of the IS's "Khorasan Province", the branch of the organisation in Pakistan and Afghanistan.

Spain to keep extracting Afghan allies in months, years ahead: PM Sanchez
Spain will keep trying to extract Afghans who worked with Western countries in the coming months and years, Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez said on Friday, hours after the last two Spanish rescue planes left Kabul for Dubai. "We are going to work calmly and discreetly. We are already thinking about how to set up an operation to bring back those Afghan allies and their families who we could not evacuate," he told a news conference. He said his government had not ruled out any kind of effort to bring back as many such Afghans as possible.

Will evacuate Indians, support Afghans who stood by us: MEA
The ministry of external affairs on Friday said India's priority will be to evacuate the Indian citizens from Afghanistan and Afghan nationals "who stood by us". Addressing a weekly presser, external affairs ministry spokesperson Arindam Bagchi said India has evacuated over 550 people in six separate flights, either from Kabul or Dushanbe.

Turkey says Taliban wants it to run airport
The Taliban has asked Turkey to operate Kabul airport but no decision has been made yet, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said Friday. “The Taliban have made a request for us to operate Kabul airport. We have not yet made a decision on this matter,” he told a news conference at Istanbul's Ataturk Airport before leaving for a trip to Bosnia.

In his first comments on Kashmir, Taliban spokesman Zabiullah Mujahid has said that Pakistan and India should sit together to resolve all their outstanding issues because both are neighbours and their interests are linked to each other. Mujahid made the remarks during a wide-ranging interview with Pakistani TV channel ARY News.

Day after the Kabul terror attack, some defence experts feel that the terror groups Islamic State (ISIS) and al-Qaida will re-establish themselves once again under the Taliban regime in Afghanistan. "US and NATO have feared that under Taliban regime ISIS and al-Qaida will re-establish themselves once again and will pose a major threat to peace and tranquillity not only in Afghanistan but also other countries. This is a very serious threat and needs to be dealt with very-very severely by all countries in a united manner," said PK Sehgal.

The US officials in Afghanistan naively handed the Taliban a “kill list” to target Afghans who aided American forces in the country, according to a media report. Following the Taliban takeover of Kabul earlier this month, US officials there gave the militant group a list of names of American citizens, green card holders and Afghan allies so they could be allowed to enter the Taliban-controlled perimeter around the Hamid Karzai International Airport in Kabul, according to Politico.

New urgency to airlift after Kabul blasts kill more than 100
Evacuation flights from Afghanistan resumed with new urgency on Friday, a day after two suicide bombings targeted the thousands of desperate people fleeing the Taliban takeover and killed more than 100. The US warned more attacks could come ahead of the Tuesday deadline for foreign troops to leave, ending America's longest war. As the call to prayer echoed through Kabul along with the roar of departing planes, the anxious crowd outside the airport was as large as ever. Dozens of Taliban members carrying heavy weapons patrolled one area about 500 meters (1,600 feet) from the airport to prevent anyone from venturing beyond.

An official says at least 95 Afghans were killed in Thursday's suicide bombings outside Kabul's international airport. The official spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to speak to the media. The official said the actual death toll is even higher because others were involved in evacuating bodies.

Albania gets 1st Afghan evacuees after deadly Kabul blasts
Albania on Friday housed its first group of Afghan evacuees who made it out of their country despite days of chaos near the Kabul airport, including an attack claimed by the Islamic State group. A government statement said an Egyptian Almasria Universal Airlines plane landed at the Tirana international airport at 3:20 a.m. (01:20 GMT) carrying 121 people, including 11 children. It was not clear whether this was the first flight after the two suicide bombings in Kabul that killed at least 60 Afghans and 13 American troops, or if the plane that landed in Albania's capital had come directly from Afghanistan. From Bosnia, they try to cross neighbouring Croatia's closely guarded border before moving on. While many of these Afghan migrants left their homes months, or even years ago, the Western pullout and the swift Taliban takeover of Afghanistan have left them feeling even more vulnerable, and concerned about those they left behind.
