DHAKA: Slain Bangladeshi radical leader Sharif Osman Hadi’s party has rejected the Dhaka police’s chargesheet in his murder case — naming 17 people, mostly Awami League members — and accused the Muhammad Yunus-led interim govt of being involved in his killing, a charge made by his brother Omar last month.“Even a lunatic would not believe this (chargesheet),” Inquilab Moncho member secretary Abdullah al Jaber said Tuesday and said Osman was killed due to “political vengeance” at the behest of former Awami League-nominated ward councillor Taizul Islam Chowdhury Bappi.

Inquilab Moncho doesn’t believe Osman was killed merely on instructions of a councillor, Jaber said, adding, “The party doesn’t accept the chargesheet”. He claimed that the “state machinery”, was involved in the killing. If justice for Hadi’s murder is not ensured and “Indian hegemony” is not ended, the people would decide theconsequences, he said.
