In a recent interview, the hit show’s creator and Reddick’s wife revealed that one of the cast members for the ‘Percy Jackson’ show was cast due to the famed actor.In a social media post shared on December 26, showrunner Dan Shotz opened up about casting child star Tamara Smart as Thalia Grace. He opened up about how the actress was cast in the first place and how Lance Reddick and his family became the inspiration behind the casting.Posting photos of Tamara Smart, the showrunner wrote that they had been searching for an actress got a call from Stephanie Reddick, the wife of the late Lance Riddick. He shared that she pitched him Smart, citing that there is an actress she knew who would be perfect for Thalia’s role. He further added, “She played Lance’s daughter on another series; she is very important to our family, and there is something so magical about her. No pressure, just take a look at her tape.”While he shared that he had agreed to audition her, he was not sure if it would pan out. He also added that he did not know how he would tell Reddick that the casting was not going to work out properly. He was not sure, until Tamara Smart’s tape came in for the audition, and he was blown away.“Then her tape came in (woah), then I met her (oh my), then she read with @walker.scobell and his first words after the read were… 'we are casting her, right?' Magical is so the right word,” he wrote.
