Madhya Pradesh: Many feared dead as bus falls into Narmada river in Dhar

In a tragic incident, a Pune-bound bus broke through the barrier of Khalghat bridge in Madhya Pradesh’s Dhar district and plunged into Narmada river from a height of around 100ft. At least 55 passengers were on board at the time of the accident. Officials pulled out 15 people alive. Twelve bodies have been found. The bus was completely submerged. State disaster response force personnel coordinated with local fishermen to carry out rescue work. A crane was used to pull the bus out of the water. Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed grief over the loss of lives in the accident. PM Modi announced an ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakh each to the kin of deceased and Rs 50,000 to those injured in the accident.
