Social activist Anna Hazare expressed disappointment regarding the arrest of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Friday, attributing the arrest to Kejriwal's own actions. Hazare, who had previously collaborated with Kejriwal and worked together on issues like opposing liquor, voiced his discontent at Kejriwal's shift towards formulating liquor policies. Hazare's remarks come in the aftermath of Kejriwal's detention by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in connection with the Delhi excise policy case, where two senior AAP leaders are already in custody.Kejriwal had initially risen to prominence during the Anna movement in 2011, protesting against alleged corruption in the Congress government. Subsequently, he ventured into politics, founding his own party in 2012 and eventually contesting for the position of Chief Minister. Opposition leaders have criticized Kejriwal's arrest by the ED in the excise policy case.Meanwhile, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi indirectly criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modi, labeling the arrest as an act by a "scared dictator" aiming to dismantle democracy. In a related development, Kejriwal withdrew his plea from the Supreme Court challenging his arrest by the ED in a money laundering case linked to the excise policy, citing scheduling conflicts with his remand.
