Nitish Kumar draws ire for rule tweak for 'favouring' Anand Mohan amid Yogi's crackdown against Mafia

Bihar CM Nitish Kumar's decision to amend prison rules to pave the way for the release of gangster Anand Mohan Singh has triggered a political backlash. The Bihar govt has tweaked Bihar Police Jail Manuals, 2012, to set free ex-MP Anand Mohan Singh and 26 others. Anand Mohan Singh, convicted in the murder of then-Gopalganj DM G Krishnaiah in 1994, was sentenced to death by a lower court in Bihar. However, the strongman's sentence was reduced to life sentence by the Patna High Court, which was later upheld by the Supreme Court.
