India's population and geographies ruled by political parties over 6 decades

In the last 6 decades, India’s grand old party has ceded 88% population to other parties from 95% in 1961 to little over 7.5% in 2018 and the states ruled by it now have fallen from 21 in 1961 to 4 in 2018. (Data for 2018 does not include Meghalaya as results are still unclear). Here's a look at how the country's political landscape has changed over the years.
