Pakistan Strikes Afghanistan; Massive Civilian Casualties Reported In Overnight Air Attacks | WATCH

Tensions in South Asia surged after Pakistan launched airstrikes inside Afghanistan on February 22, targeting suspected militant hideouts along the volatile border. According to the Associated Press, Pakistan said the precision strikes targeted camps belonging to Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and affiliated militant groups blamed for recent deadly attacks inside the country. Pakistani officials described the operation as "intelligence-based and selective," claiming multiple militant camps were targeted, including affiliates of the Islamic State group. Afghan local media reported strikes in several districts of Nangarhar province, with reports of civilian casualties emerging from the affected areas. The escalation follows a series of suicide bombings and militant attacks in Pakistan that killed several soldiers in recent days. Islamabad has repeatedly accused Afghanistan of allowing militant groups to operate from its territory — a claim denied by Kabul.
