COVID-19: Manned by around 20 women cops round the clock, police control room manages 2,500 calls per day in Nagpur

The Nagpur city police control room, which keeps a tab on the nerve of the city round the clock, remains awake for any emergency when one rests in bed. Manned by around 20 women cops round the clock, the control room has so far received 18,922 calls related to Covid-19 since then lockdown was announced on March 22 which is second highest in Maharashtra after Mumbai. On each day, the city police control room receives around 2,200 to 2,500 calls. Though most of the calls in the past were pertaining to crime, law and order in the past, the latest trend is unarguably the Corona related ones. When the world advises everyone to stay at home for the Covid-19 chain scare, 20 young women cops or 'call takers' stepping out of their home to receive the grievances of the callers at '100' and trying to help them.
