‘Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai’ January 2 written update: Poddar family celebrates Christmas as Krish makes a mistake again

The Poddar family goes forward with their lives and prepares for Christmas amid the growing tensions. The episode starts with Abhira and Maira having a good time and sharing some emotional and sweet moments. Armaan then messages her to bring a file to his office. As she and Armaan meet, Abhira confronts him about why he took up Meher’s case after only meeting her once and what prompted him to do so.As the husband and wife talk about the case, Arman reveals that he saw the woman's condition and truly believed that she was innocent. He concluded that she had been framed for the crime and that he was willing to stand up for her in court. Armaan also further explains the situation to Abhira, gaining her understanding and support. Abhira, after their conversation, tries to invite her husband to the Christmas celebrations going on at home; however, he declines. Arman says that he cannot come home for the celebrations as he has to focus on the case with a clear mind. At home, Maira wonders if her parents will be able to attend the Christmas party or not. The Poddar family tries to call the couple; however, neither of them picks up their calls. Abhira eventually returns home; however, she comes with a surprise. Abhira turns herself into the iconic Santa Claus for the Christmas party at the Poddar home, leaving everyone overjoyed. She even brings gifts for everyone and distributes them, disguised as Santa Claus. She, later in the episode, gives Dadi Sa a keychain and proudly announces that it will soon hold the keys to the Poddar law firm again. As the family celebrates Christmas, Abhira starts missing her husband. She decides to go to the law firm to feed Arman cake and talk to him; however, once she sees that he is dedicated to his work, she decides not to disturb him.In doing so, she discovers that Krish is nowhere to be found. She tries to ask around the family and see where he went. Nobody knows where he has gone, which leaves Tanya worried about his whereabouts. Sanjay, however, tries to reassure Tanya by commenting on how she should not be worried about Krish. He tells her that Krish no longer cares for the family, still angry over his actions with the family’s law firm.The scene shifts to Krish getting drunk while showing no regret over selling the family firm. The people he is with seem to be the same men who targeted and teased Abhira. Krish gets drunk and even sells his watch to pay for more drinks for the group.He even places a Rs 50 lakh bet on his brother, citing that he will lose the case. His friends then prompt him to set up a meeting for them with Abhira if her husband loses the case. Krish agrees, not realizing the gravity of the situation and the request in his inebriated state. The preview for the next episode shows Arman winning the case and rejoicing and celebrating with Abhira. The latter, however, is worried as she finds out that her husband ended up making a major mistake in the case.
