Sumeet Sachdev: The industry has changed tremendously from the time I made my debut
Actor Sumeet Sachdev observes a significant, largely positive evolution in the entertainment industry since his debut.
Actor Sumeet Sachdev, currently seen essaying the role of Aniruddha Bose in the ongoing television series Jhanak, believes the entertainment industry has evolved significantly since his debut — largely for the better, even though competition has intensified. Reflecting on the change, he says, “The industry has changed tremendously from the time I made my debut. Earlier, television had fewer channels and fewer shows. Characters were built slowly, and relationships with the audience grew over time. Today, everything is much faster — more content, more platforms, and definitely more competition.” Despite the challenges, the actor feels the shift has opened doors. “I feel it’s changed for the good in many ways. Actors today have far more opportunities — OTT, web shows, films, even international collaborations. There’s more space for varied storytelling, and talent gets noticed quicker now,” he shares, adding that the pressure is equally high as “audiences have more options and rising expectations.” Recently, Sumeet appeared in streaming projects like Adhure Hum and My Father My Warrior, where he was seen performing intimate scenes for the first time. Addressing this, he states, “As an actor, I see intimacy as part of storytelling, not something sensational. Emotional and intimate moments are a part of life. I’m comfortable doing such scenes as long as they’re integral to the script, handled aesthetically, and shot with sensitivity and mutual respect.
