Ssanjay Gaggnani opens up about his powerful evolution from playing a villain on TV to lead on OTT; says 'The shift isn’t just big, it’s personal'
Ssanjay Gaggnani is an actor who has been able to win the hearts of the audience through his great performances in a variety of shows like 'Kundali Bhagya,' 'Naagin,' etc. Recently, he was seen entertaining the audience through his acting skills in the web series 'Vinny Ki Kitaab.' Currently, he is shooting for a new show in Lucknow.
From years of being loved and hated for his powerful performances as antagonists in various shows, the actor is now marking a new phase in his career with a new platform, and it is nothing less than a transformation for the actor. Playing a lead character, the actor says, “The shift isn’t just big, it’s personal. I have spent years living in the skin of powerful antagonists, but stepping into a lead on OTT feels like finally being seen in my entirety. It’s not a transition, it’s an evolution.”
For Ssanjay, OTT has been a chance to delve deeper into his craft and explore emotions that TV might not allow him to explore.Says Ssanjay, “For me, OTT has been a chance to explore vulnerability, depth, and layers that TV might not allow me to explore as an actor. It’s a space that allows the actor in me to breathe a little freer and dare a little more.”
Like other actors who have achieved success in negative roles, Ssanjay too had to struggle against typecasting. However, his latest project has not only helped him overcome this problem but has also given him a chance to redefine himself.Says Ssanjay, “Typecasting is a reality, and I too have been a victim of typecasting. But I never allowed that to define me as an actor. This project not only broke that image for me; it shattered that image for me.”
With this new journey, Ssanjay Gaggnani is not only exploring new roles; he’s redefining himself as an actor with each powerful performance on screen.
