January 26 will always be special for all of us. India is celebrating its 76th Republic Day today. This day is a reminder of India’s democratic values of justice, equality, and unity enshrined in the Constitution of India. We all celebrate with pride and respect nationwide. It is a time to honour the sacrifices of our freedom fighters. As the tricolour flies high across the nation, it urges us to contribute in our own ways towards building a stronger, more compassionate, and united India.
On this special day, Sheizaan Khan, aka Siddhu from Ganga Mai Ki Betiyan, and Ayushi Khurana, aka Reet from Jaane Anjaane Hum Mile, shared their thoughts on what Republic Day means to them as individuals and citizens.
Sheizaan Khan, who plays Siddhu in Ganga Mai Ki Betiyan, said, “Republic Day reminds me of our strength as Indians, our culture, values, and the unity that holds us together despite our differences. The Constitution is not just a document; it’s what gives us the freedom to dream, speak our truth, and live with dignity.”

He further said, “It is not just about celebrating for a day, but about respecting our roots, taking responsibility for our actions, and standing by each other in difficult times.
When we do that, we truly honour the spirit of our nation. I hope this Republic Day encourages all of us to contribute, in our own way, to India’s growth and future. I wish everyone a very Happy Republic Day.”
Ayushi Khurana, who plays Reet in Jaane Anjaane Hum Mile, said, “Republic Day is special for each one of us. India is celebrating its 76th Republic Day, and it fills me with immense pride and gratitude. This day reminds all of us of the freedom we enjoy today and also the responsibilities we carry as citizens. The Constitution definitely empowers us with rights, but we must always remember that it also encourages us to act with compassion and fairness.”
She further said, “Patriotism, for me, lies in small yet significant things: paying one’s taxes honestly, giving respect to elders, and helping fellow beings. On the eve of Republic Day, I hope we all strive to build an India that is progressive, inclusive, and rooted in strong values.”
