Adrija Roy, currently seen as Raahi in Anupamaa, got engaged to her entrepreneur beau, Vignuesh Iyer, on January 25. Sharing her happiness, she says, “It is a fantastic feeling to make my relationship official with the engagement. We had two functions. One was a proper Tamilian puja and ceremony in the morning, which was an intimate event where we also exchanged rings. In the evening, we had our engagement party attended by our friends and my co-actors.”
The couple opted for contrasting colours for the morning ceremony. Adrija wore a red Kanjeevaram silk sari with gold jewellery, while Vignuesh was dressed in a teal blue kurta paired with a white veshti. For the evening celebration, however, they chose to coordinate their outfits. Explaining the ritual, Adrija shares, “Basically, this is a South Indian Tamil Brahmin family, and their ritual was like that. I had to wear a Kanjeevaram silk sari. His mom told me about it, and we went and selected the one she suggested from a proper South Indian saree showroom in Bhiwandi. We did all our shopping from there. We decided that we would wear contrasting outfits during the day, but for the evening, we matched our outfits as per the ritual.”

The ceremony was attended by her Anupamaa co-actors and close industry friends, including Shivam Khajuria, Alka Kaushal, Satya Tiwari, Shiwani Chakraborty, Mazher Sayed, Sheersha Tiwari, Zalak Desai and Jatin Suri. Speaking about those who couldn’t attend, she says, “Rupali (Ganguly) was in the Maldives, but we did speak over a voice call, and she gave me all her blessings and good wishes. Our producer, Rajan Shahi sir, also sent me a lovely message as he couldn’t attend, saying that his blessings are always with Vignuesh and me.”
Adrija has already resumed shooting post the celebrations. “I have resumed shooting. My track is also going well. I am grateful to the audience for loving me unconditionally, both as an actor and as a person,” she concludes with a smile.
