Malta to recognise EMA approved vaccinations only for travel

Travelling to Malta is not easy in the current scenario, for the country has some of the strictest rules, and you have to show proof of complete vaccination to get entry into the country. In a recent development, Malta has decided to publish a list of vaccines that are recognised by it, so that travellers would know whether their vaccination is recognised by the country or not.
Malta, located close to Sicily, is a remarkable destination full of great experiences. According to its Ministry of Health, the country has been accepting valid proof of vaccination, but only those that are approved by the European Medicines Agency or EMA. These are AstraZeneca EU (Vaxzevria), Pfizer/BioNTech (Comirnaty), Moderna (Spikevax), and Johnson & Johnson (Janssen).

According to a statement made by the Health Ministry, “Guests, aged 12 and older, can only travel to Malta if they have a vaccination certificate, confirming the full dosage of a European Medicines Agency (EMA)-approved vaccine.”
Moreover, it has been addressed that if the traveller has been vaccinated with two different doses of the above mentioned vaccines, it will also be recognised by the authorities. There should be proof of the fact that both doses are complete, and the right amount of time was given between the last dose, and the date of travel.

Malta has also listed the certificates that have been issued by specific countries, which would be recognised by it. Besides the EU Digital COVID vaccine certificate, there are other countries named in the list, such as UAE, the United States, Turkey, among others. India, unfortunately, does not feature in the list for now.
