The other European countries that have recognised Covishield are Switzerland, Greece, Ireland, Croatia, Bulgaria, Slovenia, Austria, Germany, Belgium, Romania, Hungary, Iceland, France, Netherlands, Sweden, Finland, Spain and Latvia.
The decision was taken after a G20 Health Ministers meeting that took place between Indian Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya and Italian minister Roberto Speranza. The Embassy took to Twitter and tweeted, "Indian vaccine CardHolders are now eligible for the Green Pass."
Earlier, Italy had only approved Pfizer, Moderna, AstraZeneca and Johnson & Johnson vaccines for entry of tourists. Meanwhile, the UK has also approved Covishield but the debate about the vaccine certificate still continues.
Explaining the issue, the British High Commissioner to India said that the vaccine is not the issue. "We're clear Covishield is not a problem. The UK is open to travel and we're already seeing a lot of people going from India to the UK, be it tourists, business people or students".
