Italy recognises Covishield vaccine for travel

Indians who got the Covishield vaccine are now eligible for a Green Pass, and can travel to Italy. The Indian Embassy in Rome confirmed this on Friday, which takes the tally to 19 European Nation countries who have approved the Covishield vaccine now. This was made possible after a meeting between the Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya, and his Italian counterpart, Roberto Speranza.
Up until now, Italy had recognised Comirnaty Pfizer, Moderna, Vaxzervria AstraZeneca, and Johnson & Johnson vaccines. Now Covishield too is added to this list, making it possible for fully vaccinated Indians to travel to the country.

The other European countries that have approved of Covishield are Greece, France, Iceland Bulgaria, Austria, Bulgaria, Finland, Hungary, Ireland, Iceland, Germany, Croatia, Latvia, Romania, Slovenia, Sweden, Switzerland, and Spain.
Italy is home to some of the most precious landmarks in the world, such as the Colosseum. It is also where the Vatican City is located, which is visited by thousands of people every year.

On the other hand, the ongoing debate regarding the validity of Covishield vaccination certificates in the UK is still hot. The UK has approved of the Covishield vaccine, but a 10-day quarantine is still mandatory for visitors.

Alexis Ellis, the British High Commissioner to India, said in a statement, "We're clear Covishield is not a problem. The UK is open to travel and we're already seeing a lot of people going from India to the UK, be it tourists, business people or students.".
