Did you know that you can climb across the roof of the O2 centre? The distinctive white dome is supported by twelve 100 m high yellow support towers that protrude through the dome’s white exterior. A blue rubber pathway splits the dome’s eastern and western sides, and is the route participants take across this wondrous structure, which is located in the east of the capital on the Greenwich Peninsula. The O2 entertainment venue has staged some of the biggest names in music and sports, so it is certainly worth the effort just for bragging rights of saying you have stood upon the dome of one of London’s most iconic buildings. Organisers supply you with a harness, outfit, and tuition to complete the trek and experienced guides to lead you to the summit. At the summit, you will be facing a 360 degree view of the docklands area, including the Shard, jaggedly pointing to the sky, and many other features of the London Skyline. Your harness is connected to a zip-wire for the climb, so there is no chance of being blown off course. A 30 degree ascent/descent requires some effort, but is within the capabilities of the majority of people. Also, the rubber footpath will certainly put a spring in your step. The whole experience, including training, takes around 90-minutes, but is worth every single penny.
