The popular Kalka-Shimla rail gets its first glass-roof Vistadome coach

The latest offering from the railways is the Kalka-Shimla rail vistadome coach, which means the rail will now come equipped with a coach that has a see-through glass roof top. This initiative by the Northern Railways comes in the wake of making train journey delightful for the passengers.
The Kalka-Shimla rail section falls under the Ambala division of Northern Railways and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Further, with this enhancement, it becomes one-of-its-kind on the said route. The train recently concluded its trail run and passengers will soon be able to soak in the delightful experience.
Union Minister for Railways Piyush Goyal, referring to this development, said that this will let passengers enjoy better vision through the glass top ceiling of the new converted coach. The said coach with seating capacity of 36 and glass roof has also upgraded windows and conditioning system. To make the train journey more comfortable for the passengers, the coach has been equipped with cushioned wooden interiors, LED lights and window blinds.

As per the railways, with the introduction of this see-through coach, the region will likely register more footfall of tourists in the coming days. The railways further released a statement and said that this special and aesthetically-designed vistadome air-conditioned coach CT-15, also known as Nihaar, is a first-of-its-kind in this Kalka-Shimla railway section. The Northern Railways assured that the coach will soon be put into service allowing passengers to enjoy the scenic view of the Himalayas. Such coaches were first introduced in India last year, and such special coaches are available on very few routes at present. Seeing its popularity, the railways is planning to introduce such special coaches on various routes in the near future to attract more tourist.
