Rumtse Tsomoriri Trek

This trek is for the adventure seekers as it goes through 7-9 high passes, varying at an altitude of 4500-5550 m within a period of 10 days. As the saying goes, it’s the only place on the planet where one can get heat stroke and frost bite at the same time. This trek gives one moment to sweat and toil along with a lot of shiver and foil as the physical endurance gets duly tested in the toughest of environment conditions here. The trek starts from Rumtse, about 40-45 km from Leh, the district headquarters of Ladakh at an altitude of 4100 m. The region is inhabited by nomadic Chang-pa herd’s people. The average distance on each day is close to 16 km with a minimum of two passes standing like giants guarding the next campsite. The landscape is barren to say the least but the salt water lands of dried up Tso Kar Lake presents a totally different contrast to the inert mountains on its sides. The trek presents wonderful opportunities to witness the beauty of Changtang Range and a stay in the highest inhabited village i.e. Korzok on the banks of azure Tso Moriri Lake which is the final destination on this trek.
