Parque Nacional Del Agua Juan Castro Blanco

A national park that is owned privately in the form of plantations, it is a little far from the capital. Choose to stay at one of the lodges and gorge on the fresh trout from the five rivers. The Juan Castro Blanco National park is nestled between the slopes of two volcanoes, Volcan Plantar, and Volcan Provenir. If that was not spectacular enough, the national park is the origin of five major rivers, La Vieja, Aguas Zarcas, named after the volcano river Platanar, Tora, and Tres Amigos.
The climate here is always foggy, misty and cloudy. It is highly recommended to go into the trails with a guide till the time you are well oriented with the park. You can also hire horses for riding over a few rivers when the water is much shallow. The trails are not as properly marked as compared to other national parks in the country, so chances of going off trail are high. Since the footfall is very less because of its inaccessibility, and not up to the mark infrastructure, the pristine national park is home to unique animals and migratory birds. If you are observant enough, there are high chances of spotting resplendent quetzal, black guan, robin, hanging bats, curassow, howler monkeys, sloths, red brocket deer, tapir, and ocelots.
