As the story goes, Lee Kim Choo's grandmother schooled her in the art of Nyonya dumpling making back in the 1940s. Every year, the family would pitch in to sell the triangular, bamboo-leaf dumplings packed with meat and glutinous rice at Singapore's annual summertime Dragon Boat Festival.

The snack was so popular, that it formed the basis of a family business. Along with the delicious dumplings, Kim Choo's dishes up Peranakan specialties like babi pongteh (braised pork), ikan asam manis (a fish head dish), sambal petai (a spicy vegetable dish), and Nyonya kuehs (sweet, colourful cakes). Don't forget to have a stickybeak in the Peranakan museum/gift shop upstairs.
