The picturesque town in Italy is situated in the southern Campania region around 130 km from Naples. The town has identified 90 dilapidated buildings to be sold off for $1. This will add Bisaccia to the club of other places Italian towns offering cheap houses in order to save them from depopulation. This is an attempt of Italian government to save the dying communities in the region.
The picturesque historic town of Bisaccia is situated on twin hills. From pretty cobblestone alleys and red-tiled villas, this town can enchant anyone with it’s old-world charm. There’s also a church tower and a castle in this town.
The town's deputy mayor, Francesco Tartaglia said, "We face a very particular situation here. The abandoned [area] spreads throughout the most ancient part of the village. Forsaken houses are clustered together, one next to the other along the same roads. Some even share a common entrance.”
He further informed that this is the reason they want families, groups of friends, relatives, people who know each other to come here. “We encourage them to buy more than just one house to actually have an impact and breathe new life", he further added.
