Reportedly, the said award is one of the world’s leading awards in architecture and showcases top international designs. Standing tall at 182 m, the Statue of Unity is a towering structure dedicated to India’s first deputy Prime Minister Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. The World Architecture News Awards described how the statue had been built to withstand a speed of around 180 km/sec and has the ability to endure an earthquake of 6.8 on the Richter scale.
Further, the website also mentioned that the statue has the potential to generate thousands of direct jobs for tribal people and in the tourism sector every year.
Not just the statue, its backdrop also makes for a mesmerising view. To promote tourism, the Gujarat tourism department has also started offering online booking, which will facilitate your entry to the statue site. One can also book tickets for accommodation in the tent houses.
Going by the way it is attracting visitors, its entry in the latest prestigious award category is no surprise.
