Located opposite the Narasimha Temple in Saligrama, this tiny temple dedicated to the monkey god is a popular place of worship in the region. The deity is considered as a symbol of strength, wisdom and sincere devotion. It is a practice for many believers to pray here for safe return before they embark on any long journey. It is believed that the deity was installed here to reduce the ‘ugra’ or ire of Lord Narasimha which was so severe that it would have reduced the crops to ashes. The idol of Lord Hanuman bears a fiery orange hue as it is smeared with ‘sindhura’ aka ‘shindoor’ mixed with butter to reduce the burning effect of Guru Narasimha’s sight. Several rituals and pooja are conducted here with great fervour including the Rangapuja which is performed in the evening year-round.
