The Bow River has been an important part of Alberta’s history and Calgary is lucky enough to have it running right through the middle of it. Visiting the city without taking time to explore the river is unthinkable. There are hundreds of kilometres of pathways that run along the river, and whether you bike, run or walk, the scenery will vie for your attention. There are many other ways to experience this river though and one of the favourite summertime activities is to grab an inner tube and float your way down. Make sure you plan this trip ahead and park a car at both ends. The Bow River also happens to be known all over the world for its incredible fly fishing and there are multiple companies that will take you out or hook you up with the equipment you need. Canoeing is another popular way to experience the Bow and there is an awesome 27 km long stretch that draws a lot of paddlers and takes them from Ghost Dam to the town of Cochrane. Enjoy rapids, an island and incredible views as you paddle your way down this beautiful river.
