Most people just want to get to their destination without any problems when getting onboard an airplane. However, air travel implies staying together with hundreds of strangers in a closed and confined space for a couple of hours. It means that certain good habits may help you feel much more comfortable and clean on an airplane. Some frequent flyers know them well enough, while others ignore them completely.
Here are practical things more passengers should be doing on an airplane because they simply make complete sense.

Many travellers remember to clean the tray table but forget the seat belt buckle, armrests, touchscreen, window shade handle, and seat controls. These are some of the most frequently touched parts of the cabin and are handled by multiple passengers and crew between flights. Carrying a small pack of disinfectant wipes and quickly cleaning the surfaces around your seat takes less than a minute.

What you wear when flying could be more significant than you think. Short pants, short skirts, sleeveless shirts, or any form of dress that exposes the skin might seem fashionable at the airport; but they may not feel ideal once seated for hours. The seat, blanket, and cabin interior have been used by other passengers all day long. Wearing full-length pants, a hoodie, cardigan, or long-sleeve shirt adds another layer of protection from the germs found in the public areas of the airplane.

Some passengers enter the plane restrooms without any shoes or socks (and we'll never know why). This might sound okay to some, but the fact is that the floors in such rooms are usually wet, and the liquid on the floor might not always be water. It would be wiser and healthier to wear shoes or sandals while going to the washroom, as it helps prevent the risk of getting your socks wet or infecting your feet with germs.

The airplane lavatory is a small space that has to cater to many passengers during the flight. Good hygiene practices play a crucial role in such shared environments. Properly flushing the toilet, keeping the area clean, and properly washing your hands with soap and water are basic things that you can do to make life easier for everyone else.

Why not? It is not compulsory for all flights to offer their passengers food. Even when the airlines do offer food to their customers, the time might not always coincide with their appetite. Also, sometimes, due to various reasons like delays or turbulence, there might be no time to offer food to the passengers. Hence, taking your own healthy food options like nuts, proteins, or fruit will help you stay calm.
