Buses and trams make an excellent way to get about the city, while taking in some of Vienna’s architectural marvels at the same time. Tickets with the VOR (Verkehrsverbund Ost-Region) mark allow access to the metro, as well as the above ground transportation network. Of special interest to visitors are the ring trams (lines 1 and 2), which circle the centre, providing excellent views of many historical landmarks. Tickets with the VOR (Verkehrsverbund Ost-Region) mark allow access to the metro, as well as the above ground transportation network. Of special interest to visitors are the ring trams (lines 1 and 2), which circle the centre, providing excellent views of many historical landmarks. The trams are frequent, on time, and widespread across Vienna.
Buses augment the tram network, and can take you to destinations farther afield. There are also tourist’s buses, like the Hop-on-Hop-Off Line, and Cityrama, that will drive you around to the various attractions, often with some informative commentary.
