Theatre lovers in the city yesterday had a different experience of being part of an innovative theatre demonstration. As part of site-specific theatre demonstration, artistes used a real location that suits the story’s narration or script, to stage the play.

City’s theatre lovers got an opportunity to watch the Odia adaptation of the French play The Miser, written by seventeen century playwright and poet Moliere, on Wednesday evening.

Yet another murder rocked Puri in three days when goons gunned down a man in Sreekhetra Colony on Saturday evening.The deceased, surya mohanty (30), was a histroy-sheeter, police officials said.

A driver in Nayagarh district, Odisha, was arrested for allegedly raping a mentally-challenged woman. The survivor, who had been abandoned by her husband due to her mental illness, was found in a distressed condition with torn clothes and injuries. She narrated her ordeal to villagers, who informed the police. The accused, who knew the victim, sexually assaulted her and fled. The police have requested medical care for the survivor and urged the district administration to provide support for her family.

Sources said the department had also sent similar directive to travel agencies in other districts.But the response was equally lukewarm."No agency has responded till date, despite several reminders over telephone.
