Authorities have intensified the Mission for Clean Krishna and godavari canals (MCKGC) project works in city.

The Krishna - godavari canal system is being spruced up to enable inland waterways project to take off.

The proposed Pattiseema lift irrigation scheme may solve the irrigation needs of farmers in the Krishna delta, but it is likely to throw up new environment and ecological issues affecting agricultural production in thousands of acres en route, damaging the delicate biodiversity and inducing climatological changes in the uplands of West Godavari and Krishna districts.

The state government has approved Rs 75.12 crore to renovate the Godavari Left Bank Canal (GLBC) and Godavari Right Bank Canal (GRBC), which were constructed by the British in 1909.

The godavari canal Advisory Committee (GCAC) has demanded the state government and the water resources department to release the reserved for Kumbh for irrigation.

KHAMMAM: Another inter-district row over sharing of irrigation waters is set to flare up in the state, with farmers of Khammam and West Godavari districts preparing to fight it out over the proceeds of the Betupalli reservoir in Sattupalli mandal.
