Reacting to the furore over almost Rs 68 lakh being spent in the past one year by the chief minister’s office for tea and refreshments — which was disclosed through an RTI reply recently — state government spokesperson Madan Kaushik said on Wednesday that “facts have been wrongly presented to show that only the CM’s office spent the amount on tea and snacks.” “The RTI query had sought details of government money used for tea and refreshment since CM Trivendra Singh Rawat assumed office. The details of Rs 68 lakh that were provided include the amount used for refreshments and tea served at chief minister’s office (CMO), chief minister’s residence, circuit house, departmental meetings of IAS officers, cabinet meetings, government meetings in state assembly building and meetings of officers in state assembly in the past almost one year. Therefore, it will be wrong to say that the entire amount was used only by the CMO,” the minister claimed.
