Tollywood grinds to a halt; No shoots till we get answers

So happy was Vikram Chatterjee about the trailer, that he sent it to half the industry just a day before his car crashed on Rashbehari Avenue, killing his friend, Sonika Chauhan.

On the controversy surrounding Vikram, Arka adds, “I’m deeply saddened by what’s happened. Vikram promoted the film in his own capacity. We can’t pressurise him beyond that.”

Shooting for serials of two Bengali channels were stopped on Friday due to non-payment of a percentage of “wages” to technicians during the lockdown period and in absence of the Covid-19 health insurance for all crew members of Bengali serials. While shooting of megaserials, including ‘Rani Rashmoni’, ‘Jamuma Dhaki’, ‘Krishnakoli’ and ‘Kadambini’ for Zee Bangla resumed late evening, serials telecast of Sun Bangla could not be shot on Friday.

Unlike other sectors that started functioning on Wednesday, controversy erupted in Tollywood when shooting of serials began in the city. The situation was such that a press conference was called by WATP, Artists’ Forum, broadcasters and vendors in the evening.
