Elon Musk has shared fresh hints about a possible new Tesla vehicle with three rows of seats. The Tesla CEO made the comments through a series of posts on social media platform X (formerly known as Twitter), responding to users discussing the need for more family-friendly electric vehicles. While the company has not officially announced a new model, Musk’s replies have sparked speculation about a larger Tesla SUV or a new category of vehicle aimed at families.
Elon Musk responds to demand for family-friendly design
Elon Musk reposted a comment by Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian, who said “businessdads” need vehicles with three rows for families. “Love my cybertruck but businessdads need 3 rows for all the fam,” Ohanian wrote.
The Tesla CEO also reacted to a study shared by another user about how limited seating space can impact family planning.
“Well, I guess we should solve this,” Musk said in response.
In another reply to a suggestion about a three-row vehicle with easier access to seats, Musk simply wrote, “Noted.”
When asked about building a family-focused vehicle previously, Elon Musk hinted that Tesla is working on something “way cooler than a minivan”. The Chief Executive did not specify whether he was referring to a personal vehicle or a purpose-built one.
However, leaked images circulating online also suggest a design with more rear space and larger windows, although the company has not confirmed these details.
Tesla to shift focus on manufacturing Optimus
Earlier this year, Tesla announced that it will stop manufacturing Model S and Model X as the EV maker’s manufacturing lines transitions to the production of the humanoid robot Optimus. Musk then said that people will forget Tesla ever built cars after the company launches the Optimus V3.
In July 2025, Tesla‘s VP of Vehicle Engineering Lars Moravy said the company had “spent a lot of time in the last few years rethinking what we did, and why we did it, and what would make an awesome and exciting last best driver’s car.”
