Perplexity launches Comet AI browser for iPhone with voice mode, smart assistant and more
Perplexity AI has officially launched Comet Browser, an AI-powered web browser designed to rival Google Chrome for the iPhone users. Bringing the assistant-style browsing experience to iOS, the Perplexity Comet AI browser combines traditional web browsing with AI-driven search, chat, and productivity tools. “Today we are launching Comet for iOS. iPhone users can tap into the same quick answers and in-browser assistance when they’re on their iOS devices. Now the fastest-growing AI browser and most powerful web-based AI assistant, is uniquely tailored for the iOS experience and comes with features purpose-built to be the best browsing experience possible,” said Perplexity in a blog post.Built on the Chromium framework, Comet supports popular extensions and bookmarks while introducing intelligent tools to enhance productivity, research, and multitasking. Unlike traditional browsers, Comet goes beyond just displaying websites—it can summarize content, automate tasks, manage workflows, and offer personalized recommendations.

Perplexity Comet browser key features

Voice mode

The voice mode is built into Comet for iOS. You can simply speak your questions and get a researched answer without breaking your flow. The voice mode works across the tabs.

Hybrid search results

The search experience in Comet iOS provides traditional search results pages for fast, local, and high-intent queries that are more common on mobile.
Meanwhile, the Comet Assistant easily allows for more advanced knowledge and intelligence powered by the Perplexity answer engine.

Research and summarise

The Comet browser on iOS also brings Deep Research engine in a user’s pocket. Comet makes it easy to get the information that actually matters. Open an article on tax rule changes, ask for the key takeaways, then have the Assistant share the summary in an email. Comet browser also comes with a personal AI assistant. “Ask the Comet Assistant to open a calendar event, research the meeting invitees on LinkedIn and the web, then provide a quick brief and three custom questions to ask them,” said the company. Unlike traditional browsers such as Safari or Chrome, Comet positions itself as an AI-first browser. While Siri or ChatGPT provide conversational AI separately, Comet integrates those capabilities into the browsing process itself, offering a seamless blend of search and assistance.
