OpenAI postpones ChatGPT’s adult mode, reason is what many fear most about it

ChatGPT-maker OpenAI has once again delayed the rollout of its planned ‘adult mode’ for ChatGPT, citing ongoing safety and compliance concerns, as reported by Axios. The adult mode in ChatGPT was initially expected to launch earlier this year but has been now postponed indefinitely as the company works to refine safeguards around sensitive content.The proposed ‘adult mode’ in ChatGPT is designed to enable the chatbot to handle more mature topics with fewer restrictions, while still maintaining guardrails against harmful or illegal content. This mode was intended to offer more flexibility to the users in conversations including adult themes, but its release has been repeatedly pushed back. As reported by Axios, OpenAI is holding back the launch due to safety, regulatory and ethical considerations. The company also stressed on the fact that it must make sure that the feature does not expose minor to inappropriate material and compiles with evolving global standards around online age restrictions.This comes at a time when countries like Australia, Britain, France, and several U.S. states are tightening rules on age verification and online content moderation.
