Elon Musk responds to computer aptitude test result that IBM reportedly re-evaluated: ‘They told me …’
Tesla CEO Elon Musk
Tesla CEO Elon Musk has responded to a social media post showing what appears to be a document related to a computer aptitude test he took as a teenager. The image circulating online shows a letter from University of Pretoria dated May 17, 1989. The document states that aptitude tests were conducted on Musk for computer programming. According to the letter, the results listed grades of A+ for operating and A+ for programming. The letter is signed by J. L. M. Wiechers, identified as Director of Information Management at the University of Pretoria. The post claimed the test results were unusually high and required re-evaluation. “Result of @elonmusk’s programming test when he was 17. IBM had to re-evaluate him as they hadn’t seen anyone achieve such a high score on a computer aptitude test,” the post is captioned.

Elon Musk responds to the claim

Responding to the post on X (formerly Twitter), Elon Musk wrote that he had been told his score was unusually high. “They told me my score was the highest they’d ever seen fwiw (for what it’s worth),” Musk wrote in his reply.

When Maye Musk shared Elon’s computer aptitude test result

Last year, Maye Musk, mother of Elon Musk shared a photo of his computer aptitude test result he took at the age of 17. Sharing the post on X then, Maye wrote: “While sorting through photos, I came across computer aptitude test results of @elonmusk at 17. My genius boy. Proud mom.”Musk then responded to his mother’s post, saying: “They said I scored the highest for engineering aptitude that they had ever seen. Or, in other words, not bad for a human, as a future AI might say.”
