Ambrane Stellar 20K power bank review: Designed for long vacations
Rating: 3.5/5With the market flooded by power banks with similar battery capacities and charging speeds, portability often becomes the deciding factor. A 20,000mAh power bank can be helpful during long travel, but carrying one around the day is not always convenient. The Ambrane Stellar 20K tries to tackle this by offering a fairly compact form factor, a massive battery, and 22.5W fast charging support.

Priced at Rs 2,199, the Stellar 20K features a semi-solid battery, an attached Type-C cable, and support for charging protocols including PD 3.0, QC 3.0, PPS, and VOOC. We used the power bank for several weeks with smartphones, earbuds, and tablets to see how it performs in everyday situations. Here’s how it works

Design and build

The first thing we noticed about the Stellar 20K was its size. While it houses a 20,000mAh battery, it doesn't feel excessively bulky. The power bank is compact enough to fit in a backpack pocket, laptop sleeve, or travel pouch without taking up much space. However, it's not convenient to carry it in our pockets.

The textured ABS body provides a secure grip and doesn't easily attract fingerprints. The orange finish also makes it easy to locate inside a crowded bag.Despite being relatively compact, it still has some weight, which is expected given its battery capacity.
Carrying it inside jeans pockets for extended periods isn't particularly comfortable, but in a backpack, sling bag, or jacket pocket, the weight isn't noticeable.

One thoughtful addition is the detachable Type-C-to-Type-C cable that doubles as a carrying loop. During testing, we often found ourselves using the attached cable rather than searching for a separate charging cord. It may seem like a small feature, but it made daily usage more convenient. The LED indicators on the front provide a quick overview of remaining battery levels. While they aren't as precise as a percentage display, they are easy to read at a glance.

Battery and charging

The Stellar 20K supports up to 22.5W fast charging through both the USB-A and Type-C ports. During testing, the power bank had no trouble charging multiple devices across different ecosystems. We used it with Android smartphones, an iPhone, wireless earbuds, and a tablet. The charging speeds were consistent throughout the testing period.
Supports multiple fast charging protocol
A smartphone with a battery level below 20% could comfortably reach around 50-60% within about 30 minutes, depending on the device and charging protocol supported. The 20,000mAh capacity proved useful during travel. In practical use, the power bank recharged two smartphones multiple times before needing a recharge itself. For weekend trips and long commutes, we rarely worried about running out of backup power. The attached cable also reduced cable clutter, especially when charging devices while travelling.A large battery is only useful if it doesn't take forever to recharge. Ambrane claims a charging time of approximately 3.5 hours when paired with a 20W PD charger. Our experience was largely in line with that figure. A full recharge generally took around 4 hours using a compatible fast charger. The semi-solid battery technology is one of the key talking points of the Stellar 20K. While its long-term durability can only be judged over time, the power bank remained cool during most charging sessions. Even when charging multiple devices simultaneously, heat levels remained within a comfortable range.Ambrane has also included multiple safety protections for overheating, overvoltage, short circuits, and overcharging, which adds reassurance during daily use.

Verdict

The Ambrane Stellar 20K prioritises practicality over unnecessary features. The combination of a 20,000mAh battery, 22.5W charging speed, attached Type-C cable, and compact design makes it easy to carry for travel, office commutes, and everyday use. While it is not light enough to fit in a pocket, it remains manageable given the battery capacity on offer. The built-in cable, wide compatibility with fast-charging formats, and dependable battery life make it a useful companion for long vacations or for users who regularly charge multiple devices throughout the day.If you're looking for a power bank that balances battery capacity with portability and everyday convenience without costing a lot, the Ambrane Stellar 20K is worth considering.
