Trump Mobile blames what President Donald Trump called ‘short-term disaster’ for delay of its first-ever smartphone
Trump Mobile, the wireless venture backed by the Trump Organization, that launched the T1 smartphone earlier this year has said that it has delayed the plans to deliver gold-coloured handset. The company blamed the delay on the record 43-day government shutdown that President Donald Trump called a “short-term disaster with Democrats”.The $499 gold-coloured Android phone was originally slated to reach customers by the end of 2025 but as per a report in the Financial Times, the company said there was a “strong possibility” the device would not be shipped this month. According to Fortune, the phones are now scheduled to be delivered by mid-january. Citing customer service representatives, the report added that the shutdown halted essential logistics. “We’ve been told mid to late January [delivery date].” The company has not issued a formal public statement on the new timeline.”The T1 has been delayed due to the government shutdown. They had to pause everything on the FCC side of things,” the customer service rep was quoted as saying.

T1 smartphone launched as alternative to Apple, Samsung

The T1 was unveiled in June and marketed as a statement against foreign manufacturing.
The phone has been touted to be “built in the United States”, and it aligned with Trump’s public threats of 25% tariffs on rivals Apple and Samsung. However, according to IDC estimates, less than 5% of modern smartphone components are currently manufactured domestically. Recently, observers noted that “Made in USA” language has been quietly removed from the Trump Mobile website, alongside the disappearance of specific release dates, the report pointed out.
