The Baramulla attack+ which left a BSF soldier dead+ has strengthened the suspicion that Pakistan's response to India's surgical strikes+ may come not in the form of military aggression but through more terror attacks in the valley and other places.

The BSF denied reports of "friendly fire" resulting in casualties during the terror attack on the Baramulla camp even as speculation swirled about tense nerves leading to firing late on Sunday night.

Confusion prevailed over the terror attack at Army-BSF camp in Baramulla on Sunday night which was described by senior para-military officials on Monday as a 'shoot and scoot' strike by terrorists in which one BSF personnel was killed.

Sartaj Aziz, advisor on foreign affairs to the Pakistan Prime Minister, confirmed that Ajit Doval and his Pakistani counterpart Nasir Khan Janjua spoke about the fraught state of India-Pakistan relations in recent weeks. At the same time, Aziz said that while Pakistan wants to reduce tensions on the LoC, India wants to do the opposite, to take attention away from the unrest in Kashmir.

At least two terrorists and a soldier were killed, and one soldier was injured, when terrorists on Sunday night fired at and lobbed grenades on an army camp in Baramulla in northern Kashmir, four days after India conducted surgical strikes on terror camps across the Line of Control (LoC).
