West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has reportedly lost the Bhabanipur assembly seat by over 15,000 votes, with BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari winning by a margin of 15,114 votes. Adhikari, who had earlier defeated her in Nandigram in 2021, contested from both Bhabanipur and Nandigram in this election. Meanwhile, Banerjee reacted sharply to early trends showing a strong BJP lead, alleging irregularities in the counting process. She claimed she was “beaten” at a counting centre and accused the Election Commission of bias, calling it the “BJP Commission.” She also alleged that over 100 seats were “looted” and called the outcome an “immoral victory.”
