Vince McMahon, once the driving force behind
WWE, officially severed his ties with the company in January 2024, resigning from his position as executive chairman of TKO Group Holdings. This departure came amid ongoing federal investigations into McMahon’s activities, casting a shadow over his legacy. Despite this, sources suggest McMahon is planning a significant return to the entertainment world—though not necessarily through wrestling.
In a recent episode of Wrestling Shoot Interviews, Eric Bischoff, alongside host James Romero, discussed McMahon's potential comeback, raising speculation about his future endeavors. With former WWE Chairman
Donald Trump back in the political spotlight, some have speculated that McMahon could be pardoned or find a way to resolve his legal troubles, clearing the path for his return. However, Bischoff remains unconvinced, despite McMahon’s ongoing communication with TKO President and COO Mark Shapiro. Bischoff, a former WCW executive, has insight into McMahon's next move.
According to Bischoff’s sources, McMahon has recently made strategic investments in Santa Monica, California, purchasing a home and several production facilities. Notably, McMahon has hired a number of PR professionals, including Kristen Prouty, a former WWE employee. This move hints at McMahon’s next venture: an "entertainment hub company" focused on the production of television and film projects rather than a return to wrestling. This aligns with a late October report by Mike Johnson of PWInsider, which confirmed that McMahon has been assembling a team of former WWE staff to launch this new venture, with Brad Blum and Prouty among the key hires, as per
BroBible.
"[Vince] hired [Prouty] and another woman whose name I can't remember, but she also worked in the public relations department of WWE. (...) She got let go once TKO and WWE merged," Bischoff said. [2:28 - 2:48]
The timing of McMahon’s activities is noteworthy—Santa Monica’s proximity to Los Angeles, a global entertainment capital, suggests that McMahon is aiming to tap into the broader entertainment industry. Johnson’s report also indicated that Kevin Dunn, who left WWE in early 2024 after three decades with the company, will not be involved in McMahon's new enterprise.
