Nathan MacKinnon addresses Gabriel Landeskog's injury after Colorado Avalanche's game against the Florida Panthers
The NHL Avalanche vs. the Florida Panthers match today had a worrying start in the second period when the captain, Gabriel Landeskog, dropped to the ground in apparent pain. An excellent scoring opportunity soon turned the attention of the NHL match victory to player safety, putting the arena into silence, as well as the two benches concerned.
The NHL has been keenly watching the comeback of Landeskog because he has a long history of injuries, and the event itself was quite distressing to both fans and his teammates.
He also mentioned that Florida Panthers members monitored the condition of Landeskog, which shows how much he has been respected in the NHL circles. The remarks by MacKinnon indicated that the injury might be in the upper body as opposed to a chronic problem.
The incident happened when Gabriel Landeskog rushed towards the net of the Florida Panthers because of the persistent pressure of the Colorado Avalanche. At the point of crease, he seemed to miss his footing and shot right into the goalpost at full speed.
The blow caused the upper body and ribs of Landeskog to be pressed against the post, where the player fell on the ice, and trainers came out. Players of the Panthers and the Avalanche cleared the space as soon as possible, and the medical staff helped him. Landeskog was later led off the ice and could not skate on his own.
The leadership of Landeskog is still the focus of the Avalanche, and reports of his recovery in the NHL are likely to be the top discussed issues before the next matches of the team.
