A
Blue Bloods fan, anyone? This series shows that family is more important than anything, even more than one’s profession.
Bridget Moynahan plays assistant district attorney Erin Reagan on the CBS series
Blue Bloods.
Erin is the daughter of a police commissioner, the younger sister of an NYPD detective, the older sister of an NYPD sergeant, and the wife of a criminal defense attorney. The point is, they hold high-level positions but never skip family dinners or time together every Sunday. Something similar might have happened with her and
NFL legend Tom Brady. Actually, the opposite. All speculation, though.
Tom Brady ruled the NFL while Bridget Moynahan enjoyed Hollywood success
When Brady and Moynahan started out, their newfound romance gathered a lot of media attention as both of them were rising stars. He was ruling the gridiron, while she was a rising talent thanks to her fame from
Sex and the City and
I, Robot.
They thrived together for three years. When things reportedly got serious, both were at the peak of their careers. He won two Super Bowls while she starred in a breakthrough role in
Coyote Ugly and supporting role in
Serendipity.
Brady was in his late 20s and early 30s while Moynahan was in her early and mid 30s.
PEOPLE’s Claudia Harmata reported in April 2020 that Brady revealed that getting married and having kids before in late 30s wasn’t a part of his original plan, because he didn’t want anything to “get in the way” of his career.
Bridget Moynahan learned she was pregnant with Tom Brady’s child after their breakup
Tom and Bridget amicably ended their three-year-long relationship in December 2006.
Kristyn Burtt of SheKnows reported in July 2024 that Brady and Moynahan’s breakup was messy, and Bridget was three months pregnant, and Tom had already moved on with supermodel Gisele Bündchen.
“Going through that traumatic time of being heartbroken,” Moynahan told Harper’s Bazaar in 2008. “And then being pregnant turned my whole life upside down and inside out and just knocked the wind out of me. But I got so much out of that.”
In early 2007, shortly after their breakup, Moynahan learned she was pregnant with Brady’s son, John Edward Thomas Moynahan, “Jack”. At the same time, Brady was dating Brazilian supermodel Gisele Bündchen.
In an Apr. 2019 interview with PEOPLE’s Charlotte Triggs, Moynahan explained the hurdles she faced while being pregnant.
“Being pregnant and having a baby are such personal, intimate moments,” Moynahan said. “I would have cars following me, and men hiding in the bushes outside my house. As a new mother, you want to just protect your child. That kind of attention felt like a threat.”
Co-parenting because partners were understanding
“Tom [Brady] and I made a decision to raise a child together,” Bridget said. “And we both found partners that not only supported us in raising that child but also loved our child as if he was their own. I don't think you can ask for more than that. My son is surrounded by love.”
Tom Brady and Bridget Moynahan’s son, Jack, was born on August 22, 2007. He turned 18 in August 2025. He uses his mother’s last name, Moynahan. He is 6-foot-6, taller than his father, who is 6-foot-4. He plays basketball.
"Unfortunately he jumps as high as I do," Tom quipped at the Fortune Global Forum in Nov. 2024. "But I tell him, 'Dude, you're gonna be a stud.' I said, 'Wait till you hit your growth spurt, you're gonna be jumping higher, you're gonna be dunkin'.' And whether he does or not, who cares? But I want him to know that his dad's got his back."
